How to enable or disable firewall in Windows XP

A firewall is software or hardware that creates a protective barrier between your computer and potentially damaging content on the Internet or network. How to Enable/Disable the Windows XP Firewall


1. Click Start > Control Panel > double–click Network Connections > right-click the desired connection> Properties > Advanced tab
2. Under Internet Connection Firewall > uncheck or check the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.


Enable Internet Connection Firewall in Windows XP or Windows XP SP1

1. Run the network setup wizard.
2. Go to control panel > double-click network and Internet connections > click Setup.
3. The Internet connection Firewall is enabled when you choose a configuration in the wizard that indicates that your computer is connected directly to the Internet.

1. Click start button > click run > type control.exe netconnections in run box > click ok.

3. On the advanced tab > press the box to select the option to Protect my computer or network.

Disable Internet connection Firewall in Windows XP or Windows XP SP1

Disconnect your computer from the entire network.
Go to control panel > double-click networking and Internet connections > click network connections.
Now Right-click the connection on which you want to disable firewall > click properties.
On the advanced tab > press to clear the protect my computer or network check box.


Enable Windows Firewall in Windows XP SP2
Following these steps:
Go to start > press run, type Firewall.cpl in run box > click ok.
On the General tab > click on > press ok.


Disable Windows Firewall in Windows XP SP2

• Click Start > click Run> type Firewall.cpl > click ok.
• On the General tab> click off > click ok.
